Well there’s no doubt in my mind that Ichiro Suzuki will be a first ballot hall of famer. After tearing up the Japanese League, Ichiro came to the U.S. and joined the Seattle Mariners in 2001 and continued where he left off in Japan. With his crafty hitting and blazing speed out the batter’s box, Ichiro was an absolute nightmare for opposing pitchers and infielders. With that unorthodox swinging style, practically on his way to first base while making contact with the pitch, I can’t think of a tougher player to throw out. In his first 10 MLB seasons, Ichiro has had over 200 hits and has batted over .300…and oh by the way, a 10 time Gold Glove winner with an absolute cannon of an arm from right field! Ichiro is now approaching the end of his career and just signed a 1-year deal with Miami but will definitely need at least another season to accomplish what he’s no doubt trying to accomplish. Listen, the resume and body of work speaks for itself and when it’s all said and done, I believe that Ichiro, who’s 134 hits away (MLB and Japan), will surpass Pete Rose as the all-time hits leader and that’s when he’ll truly be…Ichiban!
